Designing for smaller screens

Smaller screens mean shorter attention spans. It's a balancing act to make sure the right amount of content is available so the user can easily accomplish goals without excessive distractions. To make the UI as intuitive as possible, I strive to maintain familiar patterns while creating an innovative experience that is memorable and pleasing.

    Project

The goal was to create a more attractive and intuitive flow for the mobile view and present various options for possible brand direction. In the current version, there was a lot of content to sift through, so I created a simple way to get to the sections using a search component and utilized a slid-out side menu. I styled other components to be more pronounced in order to establish a clearer visual hierarchy as well as a cohesive design language. I developed a colorful, familiar, and intriguing motif for the brand direction which was inspired by a vintage sports car ad.

    Productivity App
This IOS app was created to help ease the pains of relocation steps and services. The app was getting a lot of downloads but not being used. I found that its usability was unintuitive and cumbersome, and needed more a compelling brand design. I re-organized the layout and sections of the app to be more intuitive and removed unnecessary steps in the original design. I also grouped various tasks and goals to make them more approachable.

      Productivity App
This IOS app was to serve as a way for users to easily submit a change of address forms. The brand identity needed more definition and UI was very form heavy. I redesign the existing app to allow for better user flow and updated the brand identity to create a colorful and exciting experience that will attract users, and help them easily share information about their relocation to the USPS, DMV, and friends.

      Entertainment App
The IOS app was aimed at millennials, designed to help people coordinate outfits with others for various galas and events. I translated wire-frames provided by the client into a cohesive and intuitive layout, and built out a brand strategy that would resonate with the targeted demographic.

      Fashion E-commerce App
Goal was to deisgn a Jewelry focused business for a mobile application, featuring: profiles, sharing and rewards, product listing with ranking and reviews, elastic search and checkout. I found most jewelry app UIs to be overly complex, confusing and unattractive. So I designed a simplified navigation with minimal, flat elements. I created a clean and easy composition, aiming to eliminate unnecessary distractions so that users can easily and quickly find what they're looking for. This app was designed for an independent vendor, but could easily be adapted to accommodate a platform to allow multiple vendors.
